The west entrance to the library (on Harris Lane) has recently been enhanced by the addition of a new bench. Not only does the bench provide a comfortable place from which to access Wi-Fi when the library is closed, it is also a pleasant spot for a rest and contemplation at anytime. And the location is perfect: just outside the library door and sheltered on the porch.
Next time you are in the neighborhood why not take a break, sit for a time, and enjoy.

Here’s an update on the major repairs the library underwent last September. It’s all done and the repairs were a great success. Water runoff from the roof has been redirected, the exterior and interior walls of the basement have been re-pointed, and we now have a beautiful, new, wooden porch. And because of the repairs, the basement now remains completely water-free no matter how much rain falls, the moldy walls have completely dried out and been re-painted, and we’ve won some very valuable new storage areas.
Among our plans for the “new” basement is a new meeting room as well as a new archival room to store our historical documents and photos. More ideas soon, I’m sure.
Extensive water damage to the library’s basement has necessitated undertaking major repair work. Problem areas that will be addressed are the drainage system for the roof runoff, water damaged basement walls on the west and south sides, and the construction of a new porch for the southern entrance.
Here are some images of the repairs in progress.
